Former deputy attorney general Sally Yates was briefly acting attorney general shortly after Trump was inaugurated. When he enacted his controversial ban on travel by Muslims, Yates refused to defend the law because she believed it was unconstitutional. She refused to implement an unlawful order and Trump fired Yates.
