If home and work are creating havoc to your life, consider hitting the gym. A study shows that exercise helps to reduce stress that causes conflicts between the workplace and the home front. Striking a balance is easier said than done; but putting the gym between home and office might just be the problem-solver you need.
Benefits of Exercise
A research conducted on 475 working adults suggests that working adults who have a regular exercise regimen are more confident at handling conflicts related to home and work. According to research author and management assistant professor Russell Clayton of Saint Leo University, people who exercised on a regular basis managed their stress levels more capably than those who did not have a regular physical fitness program.
The Focus Needed
Published in the Human Resource Management journal, the study recommends adding gym time to an already demanding schedule might look insane at first, but it is actually a necessary downtime. During workouts, you do not actively perform cognitive functions. Clayton says that during the gym time, you are just physically sweating it out and following mechanical routines. It is a good way to psychologically and mentally make the transition from the hectic office responsibilities to the domestic concerns at home.
It is Worth it
This brief interruption in your usual daily humdrum will not only calm and relax you as you approach your neighborhood; it will also make you healthy and fit. You and your wife or girlfriend will love it.
