Beginner Workout Mistake: Poor Exercise Selection

This sin is usually committed when there is an overload of information. Beginners find themselves reading a ton of articles and visiting forums all too often.

With all the information gathered, their training usually looks like a room of a teenager that was hit by a hurricane. It’s all over the place.

Questions like ‘should I only use compound exercises’ or ‘are isolation exercises bad’ often pop up in the mind of the beginners.

The simple answer to end your search for information is to perform both compound and isolation exercises.

For the main movements such as the press, pull, squat and hinge, you need to focus on compound movements. Then after the main movements are done, throw in some isolation exercises at the end to train your guns.

Compound and isolation exercises both have their merits, but combining both will help you make better gains in your training.
